St. Patrick’s Day fun in downtown Cape

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI)- St. Patrick’s Day is here and celebrating on Broadway in Cape Girardeau began when all the shops and restaurants opened Friday morning.

At El Kolibri Coffee and Curiosities, you can find traditional Irish crème coffees and shortbread for a tasty treat to start the day.

“It’s delicious” says barista, Sydney GartMan.

At Mary Jane Bourbon + Smokehouse, in Cape Girardeau, barbecue artist Colton Dodds was busy smoking up beef briskets, ribs, corned-beef briskets and even pastrami for their pastrami on rye sandwiches.

“Each brisket is unique you have to take care of it, from the trimming, the brining to the resting,” he said.

But to end the night, Katy O’ Ferrell’s is there to get everyone feeling lucky, where the fan favorite green beers can be found.

Mindy McClure, a patron to the public house says,

“It’s the Irish flag colors, orange, white and green, huge St. Patrick’s Day fan! We drove an hour and a half away here to come to Katy O’Ferrell’s,” said patron Mindy McClure.

Mia Hill, a server at Katy O’Ferrell’s, says she’s looking forward to a fun night with the rest of the staff,

“Well, this Irish pub has been around for a while, so I think people just come in here looking for different traditions and stuff, so I think that’s what they look forward to,” Hill said.
