PERRYVILLE, Mo., (KBSI) — A high school football game between Valle Catholic School and St. Vincent De Paul Catholic School turned into something bigger than a rivalry Friday night as the two schools united to support children and families battling childhood cancer.
Fans and community members raised $1,963.75 to benefit two families from each school facing pediatric cancer diagnoses.
In an unexpected gesture of compassion, the Joggerst family announced they would donate their portion of the proceeds to the Kutz family. Their son, Rory, has recently begun treatment for leukemia. The idea came from Nolan Joggerst, who is nearing the end of his own cancer treatments.
Nolan’s decision ensured the Kutz family received the full proceeds, transforming what began as a fundraiser into a larger statement of solidarity.
“This act of kindness is a reminder of the true meaning of strength, generosity and faith,” organizers said.
The event demonstrated that while St. Vincent’s and Valle may be rivals on the field, the two schools and their communities stand together when it matters most.
