St. Vincent Elementary students spread kindness through classroom challenge

PERRYVILLE, Mo. (KBSI) — Students at St. Vincent Elementary School are learning how small acts of kindness can make a big difference through a schoolwide initiative called “Chain Reaction of Kindness.”

The program encourages students to help others, offer encouragement, include classmates and demonstrate kindness throughout the school day.

Each time a student performs an act of kindness, a paper link is added to the classroom’s growing chain, creating a visual reminder of the positive impact students can have on one another.

According to St. Vincent Catholic Schools, the initiative is designed to encourage students to make kindness part of their everyday lives rather than simply focusing on earning rewards.

At the end of each week, a classroom is recognized for its efforts and rewarded with a special ice cream treat.

Ms. Winschel’s class was recently named one of the school’s kindness champions for October.

School officials celebrated the students’ excitement after learning they had won the weekly challenge.

St. Vincent Catholic Schools said the initiative is helping create a welcoming, caring and encouraging environment where students recognize the importance of supporting one another.

The school is also encouraging parents to talk with their children about the ways they are spreading kindness and making a positive difference in their classrooms.

The program continues throughout the school as students work together to build their chains, one act of kindness at a time.
