Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive returns to Southeast Missouri May 10
SIKESTON, Mo., (KBSI) — The National Association of Letter Carriers’ annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive returns May 10, with local letter carriers collecting food donations for the Southeast Missouri Food Bank.
Since its inception in 1993, the drive has become the nation’s largest one-day food drive, helping stock food banks nationwide. Last year, more than 20,000 pounds of food were collected in southeast Missouri.
The food drive comes at a critical time, as schools let out for summer and many families face additional expenses for childcare and meals.
“Stamp Out Hunger is our largest food drive of the year, and we’re incredibly grateful for the support of letter carriers and our community,” said Joey Keys, CEO of Southeast Missouri Food Bank.
To participate, residents can place non-perishable food items in a sturdy bag or box next to their mailbox by 8 a.m. May 10.
Most-needed items include canned fruits and vegetables, soups, and shelf-stable proteins like canned chicken, tuna, and peanut butter.
