State fire marshal investigating after fire destroys home in rural Ava

AVA, Ill. (KBSI) – A house that was being remodeled caught fire and was destroyed Saturday night in rural Ava, Illinois.

Ava Volunteer Fire Chief Brad Eaton says his fire department got a call at 8:50 p.m. on June 29 for a fire at 1567 Kessel Road.

When the 911 call came in, it was reported that the house was completely on fire.

Four other fire departments provided mutual aid.

Firefighters were able to save two barns next to the home, but they fire destroyed the home.

The cause of the fire is undetermined. A fire marshal is investigating on Monday.

Firefighters had to make a 12-mile round trip to get water.
