Statement Released by Councilman Rhett Pierce Following Arrest

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI)- Cape Girardeau City Councilman Rhett Pierce was arrested on September 26, 2024, for his alleged involvement in methamphetamine distribution.
A narcotics investigation led by the Southeast Missouri Drug Task Force and the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Office resulted in Pierce’s arrest at a hotel in Cape Girardeau County.
Pierce admitted to purchasing and selling methamphetamine, and a search of his home uncovered evidence, including 122.4 grams of methamphetamine and two 9mm handguns.
He faces charges related to narcotics possession, distribution, and illegal possession of firearms.
In a statement to FOX23, Pierce apologized for the incident’s optics and asked for due process, ensuring continued support for his constituents.
As the Ward 5 Representative, Pierce was elected in April 2024 and has been involved in various community activities, including the Cape Central High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
The incident has sparked attention, given Pierce’s position and community involvement.
