STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo., (KBSI) — A Ste. Genevieve man has been arrested and charged with multiple child sex crimes following an investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control.
Skyler Brown, 21, was taken into custody Aug. 27 after investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in Ste. Genevieve County. Authorities said the warrant stemmed from a CyberTip received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that linked an online user to the upload of child pornography.
Investigators said evidence of child pornography was seized during the search, and Brown was interviewed before being transported to the Ste. Genevieve County Jail.
On Aug. 28, the Ste. Genevieve County Prosecuting Attorney charged Brown with five counts of felony possession of child pornography and one count of felony promoting child pornography. He is being held without bond.
The Highway Patrol reminded internet users to report any inappropriate or sexualized communications with children to law enforcement.
Authorities emphasized that the charges are accusations and that Brown is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
