Steele man arrested after woman wounded in Jan. 20 shooting

STEELE, Mo., (KBSI) — A 21-year-old Steele man has been arrested in connection with a recent shooting that left a woman with a gunshot wound to the head, according to the Steele Police Department.
Chief Billy Joe Stanfield said an officer was dispatched during the early morning hours of Jan. 20, 2026, to a report of shots fired. Officers later located a vehicle occupied by two people, including a young woman who had suffered a gunshot wound to the head.
The victim was transported to Great River Medical Center in Blytheville for treatment.
Investigators from the Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted with the investigation.
Following the investigation, Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Capt. Michael Coleman filed a probable cause statement with the Pemiscot County prosecuting attorney.
An arrest warrant was issued, and on Feb. 3, Trenton Green, 21, of Steele, was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, two counts of armed criminal action, unlawful use of a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Green is being held at the Pemiscot County Justice Center without bond.
Stanfield also thanked the Caruthersville Police Department for assisting at the scene the morning of the shooting.
