BENTON, Ky., (KBSI) — A Benton man was arrested on drug charges after police recovered a stolen truck in Marshall County, authorities said.

The Benton Police Department said Officer Peyton Jackson was contacted at about 5:32 p.m. Jan. 3, 2026, by detectives with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office regarding a stolen truck that had possibly been spotted in the Oak Level community.

Jackson responded to the area and located the vehicle parked beside a residence with a broken passenger-side window. As the officer attempted to confirm the vehicle identification number, a man later identified as Eddie King, 60, of Benton, approached from the residence, police said.

Authorities said King was found to have the keys to the stolen truck in his pocket and was also in possession of methamphetamine. A subsequent search of the residence uncovered additional methamphetamine, marijuana, digital scales, plastic baggies with drug residue, glass and makeshift smoking pipes, and other substances that have not yet been identified.

King was arrested and transported to the Marshall County Jail on drug charges. The stolen truck was recovered and returned to its owner.

Police said the theft investigation remains ongoing and is being handled by the Calvert City Police Department and the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office, with additional charges expected.
