Storm damage temporarily closes portions of Lake Murphysboro State Park

MURPHYSBORO, Ill. (FOX23) — Portions of Lake Murphysboro State Park are temporarily closed after storms caused damage over the weekend.

Park officials said gates around the lake are closed while crews work to clear storm damage. However, visitors can still access the shower house, boat dock at the concession area and the Big Oak Campground.

Crews are working to reopen the gates by Monday afternoon, according to the park.

Officials urged visitors to use caution and thanked the public for its patience as cleanup continues.
