Storms cause more than 1,800 power outages across Southeast Missouri

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) – More than 1,800 power outages were reported across parts of Southeast Missouri after gusty winds and heavy rain moved through the region Wednesday evening.

Citizens Electric Corporation said crews were working to restore power to customers in Ste. Genevieve, Perry and northern Cape Girardeau counties.

The utility said crews would remain on the job until power is restored to all affected customers.

Residents are reminded to stay away from downed power lines and assume they are energized.

Outages and downed power lines can be reported to Citizens Electric at 1-877-876-3511 or through the utility’s SmartHub service.
