Street Level offers Sunday picnics for the homeless in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Since March of this year local organization Street Level in Cape Girardeau is doing what it can by hosting picnics to support and feed the homeless community.

Allie Miles and Street Level have been hosting picnics in Capaha Park since March.

Miles for the past two years has been helping the homeless community by providing hygiene products and food as much as she possibly can.

She says the opportunity to do this and form relationships means everything to her.

“I’ve formed friendships with all of these people,” Miles said. “I look forward to seeing them every Sunday. It makes me feel good to know that we are providing.”

The Street Level picnics help them build a connection and allow them to understand the individual needs of homeless people. That helps them offer other resources such as dental, vision and help the homeless population get assistance.

It’s just a good way to fellowship and connect them to other resources with things that they need such as dental vision,” said Miles.

Miles and Street Level welcomes everyone who wants to help out to come to their Sunday picnics and show love.

“For the picnics, on Sunday, we usually start setting up at about 10:45 in the morning and they can just show up they don’t have to bring anything but if they just want to come and get involved, I’m showing up at the picnic as a way to do it.” said Miles.
