Strong storms leave damage across Graves County

GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) — Strong storms damaged businesses, downed power lines and destroyed grain bins across Graves County overnight.

Just north of Mayfield along Kentucky Route 849, snapped trees and downed power lines could be seen near Southern Magnolias Properties Storage.

Farther south, the pavilion covering the gas pumps at Fristoe’s Grocery and Restaurant was ripped down.

Owner Priyanka Patel said she monitored the storm overnight before arriving at the business around 5 a.m. to assess the damage.

“Actually, it’s gone. All gone,” Patel said. “Those pumps, my gas sign—it’s gone. Pretty much everything outside.”

More damage was visible along KY 849 near Bee Mason Road, where grain bins were destroyed. One bin was folded inward following the strong winds.

Patel said seeing the damage to her business was difficult.

“It’s hard because whatever happened, it’s right here,” she said.

Cleanup is now underway across the affected areas.
