Students organize health care packages for South Cape community
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Several student-led organizations in Cape Girardeau have partnered with the PORCH initiative and the Cape Girardeau Public Health Center to put together health centered care packages for the South Cape community.
The students asked what the needs are within the community and worked to put the packages together.
“It was the idea of the students of Cape Girardeau Public School District, and they want to do something for their community,” said Tameka Randle, Executive Director for PORCH. “So, they’re doing a community work service project and they want to give health care packages for those that reside in South Cape, so they wanted to give back.”
The care packages will be handed out Thursday, May 18 at the Shawnee Park Center from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
