Suspect slams into police squad car after eluding traffic stop

NASHVILLE, IL (KBSI) – A Ford Explorer was pulled over for high rates of speed on St. Rt. 127 on July 5 at around 10:30 p.m.
The car continued Southbound reaching speeds up to 100 mph while entering Pinckneyville, IL. When entering the town the driver struck police officer’s stop sticks successfully deflating one of the tires. The driver swerved right striking a deputy’s squad car sending both vehicles off the roadway.
The driver attempted to flee on foot and failed to jump over a nearby fence where he was apprehended and taken into custody. The suspect has been identified as Michael Oliver of Belleville and he had multiple warrants in Saint Clair County, IL that had been out for nearly five years. Some of the charges including, 3 counts of kidnapping, aggravated domestic battery, and unlawful restraint.
Belleville is charged with the following:
- Aggravated Fleeing & Eluding
- Driving while License Revoked
- Speeding (more than 35 mph over)
- Improper Passing
- Operating Uninsured Vehicle
- Operating Vehicle with Expired Registration
- Unlawful Possession of Registration Plates
- Unlawful Display of Registration Plates Not Authorized for Vehicle.
