CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The SEMO Bomb Squad cleared the scene at Wink’s convenience store off Lexington Ave. in Cape Girardeau just after noon on Monday. Officers had been at the gas station all morning after a suspicious device was found in the parking lot.
The Cape Girardeau Police Department evacuated the scene for several hours. The area had been blocked off while the SEMO Bomb Squad assessed the situation. The squad brought in a robot to remove the device.
Police took the device to a second location to be investigated further.
Police have not yet said what the device turned out to be.
