Swimmer seriously injured after being struck by boat on Black River

REYNOLDS COUNTY, Mo., (KBSI) — A 31-year-old man was seriously injured after being struck by a boat while swimming in the Black River Thursday afternoon.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 3:30 p.m. Aug. 20, about 2 miles south of Lesterville.

The patrol reported the man, from Advance, Missouri, swam underwater and was struck by a passing vessel.

He suffered serious injuries and was flown by Air Evac to SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital in St. Louis.

According to the incident report, the boat fled the scene. The vessel and its operator were listed as unknown.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
