“Taste of Cape” event support SEMO Theater and Dance students
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The community came out in support of Dobbins Conservatory of Theater and Dance at Southeast Missouri State University.
The Dobbins Conservatory of Theater and Dance hosted the “Taste of Cape” fundraiser on Tuesday to help send about 20 Southeast theater seniors to New York City to showcase their talent.
Local restaurants came together to raise money for senior students.
Dobbins Conservatory of Theater and Dance Administrative Assistant Sara Steffens was excited about how many places signed up to help with the evening.
“Just really great event for the community to kinda participate in to support the restaurants and business Mississippi Mutts,” Steffens said.
Some partnering restaurants included Saffron, Sugar Chic, and Port Cape whose owner, Doc Cain, was once an acting student himself and explains why he got involved.
“For me, it’s a no brainer. The arts enhance our lives, you know music, art, theater enhances everyone’s lives and costs very little to do so,” Cain said.
