Teen pleads guilty to 2020 murder, robbery of Advance man

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) – A teenager pleaded guilty Monday in the 2020 murder of an Advance man.

Evan Schrader pleaded guilty to murder in the second degree and robbery in the first degree in the January 28, 2020 homicide of Robert Harwood in Advance.

There was no agreement between the state and the defendant as to sentencing therefore the full range of punishment will be available when Schrader is scheduled for a sentencing hearing on May 2 before Cape Girardeau County Judge Scott Lipke. He faces up to a life sentence for each of the charges.

The Stoddard County case was on a change of venue to Cape Girardeau County.

At the time of the homicide, Schrader was 15 years old. There are two other co-defendants charged in the homicide. One of those co-defendants, Joshua Herron, 43, is scheduled for jury trial on April 26 to April 28, 2022 before the Hon. Scott Lipke in Cape Girardeau County.
