55th annual Dogwood-Azalea Festival comes to Charleston, MO
Charleston, Mo. (KBSI) – The 55th Annual Dogwood-Azalea Festival came to Charleston, Missouri and brought out the crowds for some hometown fun.
Dogwood trees and azaleas bushes weren’t the only highlights to bring people from all over the region. There were food stands and homemade lemonade for everyone to try, even for the pickiest eaters.
Bill Kirk, manager of Bill’s Lemonade Stand, traveled from Mayfield, Kentucky to be a part of this festival.
“This is our favorite times of the year, Spring. People are coming out of what we call hibernation coming from winter and so this is one of the first big events that we do,” Kirk said. “We had discovered the Dogwood Azalea event last year. We really enjoyed it.”
The theme for this year’s festival is “There’s no place like Charleston” and includes a Dogwood-Azalea After-Dark tour where they have a candlelight walk.
