Back-to-back district champions Saxony Lutheran Women’s Soccer team heads to Final Four

PERRYVILLE, Mo. (KBSI) – The 13-6 Saxony Lutheran Women’s soccer team will take part in the Class 1 State Tournament Friday, May 31 at the World Wide Technology Soccer Park in Fenton, Missouri.

Kickoff is slated for 10 a.m. as Saxony Lutheran Women’s soccer team takes on Summit Christian Academy.

Saxony Lutheran Women’s soccer team comes into this match with a overall record of 13 and 6, while Summit Christian Academy sits at a 13-6 and 1 record.

Saxony Lutheran Women’s soccer team is riding a 3 game winning streak from the Class 1 District 1 Tournament  two weeks prior to the Class 1 State Tournament. Saxony Lutheran defeated Valley Park with a record of 4-9-1 in the first round four nil (4-0).

In round two Saxony Lutheran defeated Gateway Science Charter who came into that match with a record of 9-3-2 by a score of five to three (5-3).

Then in the third round of the Class 1 District 1 Tournament, Saxony Lutheran defeated Maplewood- Richmond Hts. who had a record of 14-5 coming into that game, but eventually fell to Saxony Lutheran four nil (4-0).

Saxony Lutheran displayed an impressive run down the stretch after losing two tough matches on the road to end the season with Cape Central falling one nil (1-0) followed by at Perryville, losing three to one (3-1). After the mini losing streak, the team followed it up with their current three game winning streak.

The winner of the Saxony Lutheran vs Summit Christian Academy will play the winner of Lutheran St. Charles vs Laquey on Saturday, June 1 at the World Wide Technology Soccer Park in Fenton, Missouri.
