CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI)A sanctuary for all, that’s the goal of a church in the Cape Girardeau community.

The Christ Episcopal Church welcomes the community to its Red Door Jubilee Center.

That’s where they minister, feed the hungry, hold recovery groups, and reach out to the LGBTQ+ community.

They also offer a space for the local parents, families, and friends of lesbians and gays organization, also known as P-Flag.

Regional Missioner for Cape Girardeau and Saint Paul Sikeston Annette Joseph says her church welcomes all the different types of groups because many others do not.

“So many times, up P-Flag group, will come along and say that they cannot meet within anybody else’s doors and so it’s hard for them to get started and to be able to meet,” said Joseph.

The Christ Episcopal Church’s Red Jubilee Center also offers resources such as podcasts, books, and articles to offer support for those looking for it, as well as those looking to learn more about the LGBTQ+ community.

“When we open our doors and open our hearts and let that way of love lead us into going forward,” said Joseph.

The Christ Episcopal Church will be hosting a Town Hall Red Door Ministries on June 29 at 6:30 p.m. to get the community’s input on how they should use their fund money.
