WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill., (KBSI) — Three people were taken into custody after deputies seized methamphetamine and other controlled substances during the execution of a search warrant in Herrin, authorities said.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies executed a court-authorized search warrant at about 1:21 p.m. Dec. 11 in the 500 block of North 23rd Street. The residence and its occupants were the focus of an extensive investigation into a countywide methamphetamine distribution network.

Investigators said at least one suspect made multiple methamphetamine sales to undercover deputies during the course of the investigation.

During a search of the residence, deputies located methamphetamine, controlled substances, cannabis, digital scales, hypodermic syringes, packaging materials and other items commonly associated with the packaging and distribution of illegal narcotics.

As a result of the investigation, Becca N. Spencer, Michael S. Griffin and Amy R. Spiller were arrested.

Spencer was cited on multiple charges, including delivery and possession of methamphetamine, delivery of a controlled substance, criminal drug conspiracy and delivery of cannabis, all Class X or Class 3 felonies, along with additional felony and misdemeanor drug charges.

Griffin was cited for possession of methamphetamine, a Class X felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.

Spiller was cited for delivery and possession of methamphetamine, criminal drug conspiracy, delivery and possession of cannabis, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

“Drug houses have no place in Williamson County, and we will not allow individuals to profit from poisoning our communities,” Sheriff Jeff Diederich said in a statement. “Our deputies acted on solid intelligence, executed a precise operation, and removed a significant source of methamphetamine distribution from Herrin.”

All three suspects were transported to and remanded to the custody of the Williamson County Jail.

The sheriff’s office thanked Williamson County State’s Attorney Ted Hampson for his assistance.
