Three arrested following armed robbery report in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — Carbondale police arrested three suspects following a reported armed robbery in the 500 block of South Illinois Avenue, authorities said.
Officers responded to the area after receiving a report that a group of males and females had attempted to rob a man, and that one of the suspects was armed with a gun.
The investigation led officers to identify and locate two suspects near the scene — Jared Gibbs, 18, of Carbondale, and Clayton Maclin, 19, of Carbondale. A third suspect, a juvenile, was also found nearby and taken into custody. Officers recovered a discarded firearm during the investigation.
Gibbs and Maclin were each charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and attempted armed robbery. They were taken to the Jackson County Jail pending a detention hearing.
The juvenile was eligible for detention; however, no facility was available, according to Juvenile Probation officials. The juvenile was released to a family member. In accordance with the Illinois Juvenile Justice Act, the suspect’s name is not being released.
