Three Hearts Foundation raising awareness on infertility

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Infertility is a disease that affects millions of reproductive age people worldwide. An organization in Cape Girardeau is bringing awareness and support.

Three Hearts Foundation is dedicated to raising awareness about infertility and assisting in the financial process as well.

Once a year at the Three Hearts Foundation Infertility Gala in February they reward a couple with a $15,000 grant to assist with fertility treatments.

Katie Tidwell, president and co-founder of Three Hearts Foundation, says that the foundation does multiple things for the community, specifically the Southeast Missouri area right now.

There 3rd annual awareness walk held on Saturday was another way to help educate the community and bring awareness.

The event even allowed those not personally affected by this problem to lend their support.

“We’ve got people coming now that have no idea what it’s like to go through infertility but and don’t actually know anybody personally going through it,” Tidwell said, “But they just want to know more about it or want to support it in any way that they can.”

The support that the three hearts foundation provides is one of the reasons it attracted its new board of trustees member, Jessica Weiss.

“I was one of those who just like tried to hold it all in and I was perfect and everything was fine but really, I was losing it so just once I found them and I realized liked what they were doing and how they were supporting all these other women,” said Weiss.

The goal of the Three Hearts Foundation is not only to continue helping in any way possible, but to let those affected by infertility know that they are not alone.

Weiss being able to support people and be there for them through their situation helps with the emotional toll.

“Amazing bonus that we can give to a couple every year and we love that we can do that but we want everyone to know that they’re not alone,” said Tidwell.
