Thrillbillies Showcase previews fashion, food and drink at Mtn Dew Park

MARION, Ill. (KBSI) – Just over a month remains until the Thrillville Thrillbillies begin their inaugural season, and on Thursday, the community got a glimpse into what they can expect at Mtn Dew Park this summer.

One could say Sokma Chin was thrilled to be a part of Thursday night’s Thrillbillies Showcase.

“This is the talk of the town,” he said. “It’s a whole different, literally, ballgame that’s going on, so it was good to be a part of it.”

Chin and others showed off some of the merchandise and uniforms that will be on display at Thrillbillies games.

Thrillbillies Field Manager Ralph Santana said a couple uniforms stick out to him.

“I think I like the red ones the best,” he said. “The red ones look good, they pop, they were nice, but the orange ones look good, too.”

Santana said this event really is a microcosm of the excitement surrounding this team.

“To see the vibe of the people and just the excitement in the room, and everybody asking questions and looking forward to opening night, it was really, really a good night,” he said.

Attendees could also sample some of the food, both traditional and a bit off the wall, served up by Chef Chris Banks, and the Thrillbillies mascot, who does not yet have a name, made its first appearance.

Herby Voss, Marketing Specialist for the Black Diamond Family of Businesses, said the Thrillbillies Showcase is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to fun at Mtn Dew Park.

“We’ve been pretty up front that on the [the night of the] first home game, we’re going to shoot a guy out of a cannon, over a helicopter,” he said. “Things like that are going to be happening throughout the season. We’re going to try to make it 28 Opening Days. Each one of our home games is going to have something really exciting, thrilling, if you will.”

Opening Day is slated for May 31.
