Tour to be given at Katy O’Ferrell’s to enlighten the community about Irish history

CAPE GIRARDEAU Mo. (KBSI) – Katy O’Ferrell’s Un-Happy tour will be enlightening the community about Irish history and folklore on October 9.

The Un-Happy Hour event will include a journey within the 200-year-old building.

Christy Mershon, who is the tour guide, will be leading participants to the Opera House and downstairs into the grotto.

Mershon says, “This may be the most multicultural building in all of Cape Girardeau with French history, German history, Irish history now. So, we’re going to talk a little bit about all of that.”

Attendees will be given the chance to learn about Irish history, traditions, and folklore.

Kaitlyn Apt, who is assistant manager of Katy O’Ferrell’s says, “It brings more awareness to the history and culture that we’ve got already here. As well as it just gets people involved and it’s fun.”

Tickets are $30 and the tour will be given every Monday at 7:00 P.M. through October.
