MAYFIELD, Ky. (KBSI) — A Mayfield man with multiple outstanding warrants was arrested Monday after being stopped for speeding on U.S. 45 North, authorities said.

The Graves County Sheriff’s Office said Sgt. Ben Doran and Deputy Tanner Bazarnyj stopped a vehicle around 5:30 p.m. Sept. 29 after observing it traveling 30 mph over the posted limit. The driver initially gave deputies a false name, but with assistance from the Mayfield Police Department, he was identified as 21-year-old Jesus Martinez Garcia.

Deputies determined Garcia had three active warrants in Graves County. He was taken to the Graves County RC Center and later transferred to another facility by jail staff.

Garcia faces new charges of speeding 26 mph or more over the limit, no operator’s license, no insurance (first offense), and second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, along with other traffic offenses. On the active warrants, he was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (four grams or more of cocaine), second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
