Traffic stop leads to cocaine arrest in Williamson County

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (KBSI) – A man faces drug charges after a traffic stop in Williamson County.
Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies stopped a vehicle after seeing a driver commit multiple traffic violations early Saturday morning on September 16.
As deputies approached the vehicle they could smell the strong odor of raw cannabis emitting from the front passenger window, according to the sheriff’s office.
Derek D. Woods was identified as the driver.
Antonio L. McIntire was a front seat passenger.
There were three juveniles seated in the rear passenger area of the vehicle.
Woods had an active warrant out of Randolph County, but it was later determined the warrant was outside the geographical limits set by the court.
Due to the odor of raw cannabis coming from the vehicle, deputies searched McIntire and found 28.37 grams of cannabis, according to the sheriff’s office.
A probable cause search was conducted on the vehicle and deputies found multiple clear plastic bags containing a white powdery substance which later field tested positive for cocaine, according to the sheriff’s office.
Woods was cited for improper turn signal and released at the scene.
McIntire was arrested and faces charges of possession of adult use cannabis in a motor vehicle and possession of controlled substance (<5 grams of cocaine).
He was taken to the Williamson County Jail.
