Traffic stop leads to drug bust with the help of K9 “Shadow”

JOHNSTON CITY., Ill. (KBSI) – A women is facing several charges after a K9 sniffed out narcotics during a traffic stop.

On May 30, 2024, the Williamson County Sherriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic stop on Jefferson Avenue in Johnston City.

The driver was Jena K. Thompson.

During the traffic stop a Williamson County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit arrived on scene.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office their K9 “Shadow” conducted a free air sniff of the vehicle which resulted in a positive alert to the odor of narcotics.

After a search of the vehicle deputies found meth and other drug related items.

Thompson faces charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Failure to Signal When Required.

Thompson was transported to the Williamson County Jail.
