Tropicana Stadium and houses in Tampa ripped apart from hurricane Milton
TAMPA Fl. (KBSI) – Hurricane Milton crashed down and destroyed homes and hearts that remain in Florida.
Nonprofit organization several states away have been boots on the ground in Florida for several weeks.
Flooding, damage, and destruction are all taking place on the West Coast side of Florida.
Homes being ripped apart piece by piece and damaging other properties as well.
“In our situation at our home, we lost a few of our solar panels. You know a fence panel, minor debris in the yard roof shingles were taken off, but this is all very easily fixable,” said Florida resident, Nancy Maxfield.
A resident who has lived in Florida for years has never experienced a hurricane like Milton. Parts of her home were torn away and flown into other people’s homes.
“Of course, our major companies, Red Cross, FEMA, the Government, they’ve all still been here because Helene was only two weeks ago,” said Maxfield.
Nonprofit organizations such as the Red Cross are not catching a break as they have been down in Florida with helping hands for Hurricane Helene.
Red Cross sending more volunteers to help with the damage of Milton.
They don’t know how long they will be in Florida.
Micheal Sullivan is the Executive Director for the American Red Cross for Southeast Missouri and Northeast Arkansas.
He has had to double the amount of help from hurricane Helene for hurricane Milton as the damage kept getting significantly worse.
“Several Red Cross disaster volunteers are currently responding to that and we’re working alongside with our partners to make sure those who were impacted are getting the help that’s needed,” said Sullivan.
The Red Cross is trying to multiply their numbers of help and support from Florida’s suffering.
“We’ve deployed 77 local volunteers to that area in Florida and so they’re in Florida. They’re in Georgia, the Carolinas, and Tennessee, 58 from Missouri and 19 are from Arkansas. The Red Cross has provided 33,000. Overnight shelter stays for those who were affected,” said Sullivan.
The amount of damage from hurricane Milton has also caused the roof of the Tropicana Stadium in Tampa to be ripped off.
