WASHINGTON (KBSI) — President Donald Trump said the National Mall’s Reflecting Pool has been damaged by vandalism and is undergoing repairs.

In a social media post, Trump said the Reflecting Pool sustained a 300-foot gash, chemicals were placed in the water, and a newly installed grass field was damaged by what he described as a large chemical marking.

Trump said the Reflecting Pool was the only site vandalized among several statues, fountains and monuments that have recently undergone restoration, renovation or cleaning efforts.

The president said repairs are underway and that the damage is being addressed.

Federal officials have not released additional details regarding the alleged vandalism, the extent of the damage or any potential suspects.
