Trump to hold White House press conference following evacuation request

WASHINGTON (KBSI) — President Donald Trump said he will hold a press conference from the White House briefing room after law enforcement requested an evacuation of the premises.

In a statement, Trump said the request was made “consistent with protocol” and that officials would leave immediately.

He said the first lady, vice president and Cabinet members were safe.

Trump added he had spoken with officials overseeing the event and that it would be rescheduled within 30 days.

He said he would address the situation during a press conference scheduled to begin in about 30 minutes.
