Two arrested after highspeed chase travels across multiple counties

MINOR, Mo. (KBSI) – The Minor Police Department assisted multiple agencies in a high-speed chase.
According to the Minor Police Department on Sunday November 24, 2024, at around 11:14 pm they were notified of a pursuit entering into Minor jurisdiction on a vehicle that was involved in a theft and assault incident at Jackson Walmart.
The vehicle was described as a small grey/black Mitsubishi passenger car with two black males.
The Minor Police Department heard over radio traffic that the suspect dodged a spike strip that had been laid out by Scott County Sheriff’s Office near mile marker 82.0 and the pursuit continued south bound going over 100 mph.
The pursuit reached an emergency turnaround at mile marker 74.0 where the suspect vehicle entered the emergency turnaround the suspect continued traveling south bound in the north bound lanes of traffic at speeds between 90-100 miles an hour.
Scott County monitored the vehicle from the correct lane and communicated with Minor Police Department of the suspects location. Officer Micheal Kolwyck was able to deploy stop sticks at the emergency turn around at mile marker 70.2 causing the right side of the suspects vehicles tires to deflate.
The suspect vehicle then hit an oncoming pickup truck near the 69-mile marker exit.
The suspect vehicle then veered off the left side of the roadway before hitting a ditch. The driver then ran on foot into a field on the east side of interstate 55.
Two deputies approached the vehicle and attempted to take the passenger into custody. The passenger refused to corporate which led to officers busting a window to get the suspect out. The passenger was then taken into custody.
Minor Police Department Captain Nathan Rapert deployed the departments drone to aid in locating the suspect driver.
The drone was able to locate the driver crawling into a ditch bank.
With the assistance of the Minor Police Department Drone the suspect was located and arrested by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.
Charges were filed in both Cape Girardeau County and Scott County on the driver of the vehicle for aggravated fleeing a stop or detention, driving while revoked, operating a vehicle in careless and imprudent manner.
