Two arrested after Marshall County traffic stop, deputies say

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — Two Murray residents are facing drug charges following an early-morning traffic stop in Marshall County.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, deputies stopped a vehicle near U.S. Highway 641 South and Union Hill Road around 3:15 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, after observing traffic violations.

Deputies said the driver, 48-year-old Jeremy Varner, was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine. Authorities then conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle.

During the search, deputies said passenger Brandi Varner, 49, was found in possession of suspected Schedule II controlled substances identified as hydrocodone.

Both were taken to the Marshall County Detention Center without incident.

Jeremy Varner was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance involving methamphetamine, first-degree possession of a controlled substance involving hydrocodone, possession of drug paraphernalia and traffic-related offenses.

Brandi Varner was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance involving hydrocodone and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The controlled substance charges are Class D felonies, while the drug paraphernalia charges are Class A misdemeanors.
