Two arrested in Franklin County burglary investigation

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill., (KBSI) — Two people were arrested Tuesday morning following a reported burglary in progress in rural Akin, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 9:40 a.m. March 31 and gathered information about a suspect vehicle and individuals involved. That information led officers to a residence in Thompsonville.

A man, identified as Jonathon Simpson, was taken into custody at the scene. Deputies also located a woman, identified as Brooklen Bowlin, hiding in an attic at the residence. She was taken into custody without incident.

Authorities said the vehicle believed to be involved in the burglary was found at the property, and stolen items were recovered.

Simpson and Bowlin were transported to the Franklin County Jail and charged with burglary and theft.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional arrests are possible. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
