Two arrested on meth charges after Williamson County traffic stop

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill., (KBSI) — Two people were arrested following a traffic stop that led to the discovery of methamphetamine and other drugs late Tuesday, authorities said.
Deputies with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop at about 11:05 p.m. Dec. 24, 2025, at the intersection of Illinois Route 148 and Illinois Route 13 after a vehicle was observed disregarding a traffic control device.
The driver, Gary M. Brown, was found to be operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and was taken into custody without incident. A passenger, Leah A. Bean, was also in the vehicle.
During the investigation, deputies conducted a probable-cause search and recovered cannabis, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia from the vehicle and from the passenger, authorities said.
Brown was cited for possession of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony; possession of adult-use cannabis, a Class A misdemeanor; possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor; no valid driver’s license, a Class A misdemeanor; driving while license suspended, a Class A misdemeanor; and disobeying a traffic control device, a petty offense.
Bean was cited for possession of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony; possession of adult-use cannabis, a Class A misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.
Both Brown and Bean were transported to and lodged in the Williamson County Jail.
