CALLOWAY COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — Two inmates at the Calloway County Jail have earned their GEDs, according to jail officials.
Christopher Clemons and Misty Tubbs completed the program with support from jail staff and Kentucky Adult Education instructors.
Officials said earning a GED while incarcerated requires discipline and commitment and can help individuals build better opportunities after release.
Through the Kentucky Department of Corrections, inmates who obtain their GED may receive up to 90 days off their sentence as an incentive for educational achievement.
Jail officials said programs like this aim to reduce recidivism and support successful reentry into the community.
