Two crashes reported near Interstate 55 mile marker 99 in Cape Girardeau County

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, Mo., (KBSI) — Motorists were urged to use caution Friday after two crashes were reported near mile marker 99 on southbound Interstate 55.

According to the Cape Girardeau Police Department, officers initially responded to a crash in the area and later reported that the roadway had reopened and the scene had been cleared.

Shortly afterward, police said a second crash occurred at the same location.

Authorities advised drivers to use caution while emergency crews worked the scene.

No information about injuries or the cause of either crash was immediately available.

The roadway has since reopened, according to police.
