Two drivers injured in Carbondale crash; U-Haul driver cited

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — Carbondale police responded Monday afternoon to a two-vehicle crash in the 500 block of North Illinois Avenue that sent both drivers to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash occurred at 12:46 p.m. when the driver of a U-Haul truck exited a private parking lot and was struck by a northbound vehicle, police said. Both drivers were transported to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for treatment.

The driver of the U-Haul was cited for failure to yield the right of way and released pending a court appearance.

A Civic Ready Alert was issued asking motorists to avoid the area while officers investigated.

The investigation remains active.
