Two juveniles arrested in connection with armed robbery in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — City of Carbondale police officers responded to a report of a shot fired in the 400 block of South Graham Street on January 25, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.
Upon investigation, officers discovered that a juvenile male had been robbed by acquaintances who displayed a firearm and demanded property. As the victim fled in a vehicle, one of the suspects fired a shot. The victim then stopped in the 300 block of East College Street, where another acquaintance displayed a firearm and demanded property.
The suspects fled the area with the victim’s property. The victim reported the incident to the police department, and the parents of two suspects cooperated with authorities, bringing their children to the police department.
A 15-year-old juvenile from Carbondale and a 16-year-old from Carterville were arrested for armed robbery, aggravated discharge of a firearm, and unlawful use of a weapon. They were incarcerated in a juvenile detention center while awaiting a court appearance.
Another juvenile is being sought for questioning. No injuries were reported, and the identities of the juvenile suspects are not being released due to the Illinois Juvenile Justice Act.
