BERNIE, Mo., (KBSI) — Two men have been charged in connection with a burglary and theft at Harps grocery store in Bernie, police said.

The Bernie Police Department said it received a report of the burglary on Aug. 8. Working with the Dunklin County Sheriff’s Department, investigators recovered the stolen items and identified two suspects, Alex Goodin and Steven Winchester.

Warrants for the pair were issued Aug. 26 through Stoddard County, charging both with second-degree burglary and stealing property valued at $750 or more. Goodin and Winchester are being held in the Dunklin County Jail on separate charges, along with the Bernie charges. Bond for each was set at $2,500 with 10 percent authorized.

In a separate case, Bernie police on Sept. 3 arrested Marcus Shaw of Malden on a municipal warrant for failure to appear on a charge of operating a vehicle without maintaining financial responsibility. Shaw was booked into the Bernie Jail and later posted a $125 bond.
