Two people arrested after high-speed chase in stolen vehicle

SIKESTON, Mo. (KBSI) – The Sikeston Department of Public Safety made an arrest after a high-speed chase.
Update: The occupants of the vehicle have been identified and charged for their actions through the Scott County Prosecutor’s Office.
The driver of the vehicle has been identified as, Niesha Hughes of Chicago, IL, and the passenger has been identified as, Sakeena Austin of Chicago, IL. Hughes is currently being held on a no bond warrant and charges with Tampering with a Motor Vehicle 1st degree – Felony, Aggravated Fleeing a Stop or Detention – Felony, and Driving while Revoked/Suspended – Misdemeanor. Austin is being held on a $10,000 surety warrant for the charge of Tampering with Motor
Vehicle 2nd degree – Misdemeanor.
According to the Sikeston Department of Public Safety during late morning hours on Thursday December 5, 2024 Sikeston DPS says they received a FLOCK alert that a stolen vehicle was entering city limits.
A Patrol Officer was able to locate the vehicle traveling east on Malone and attempted to conduct a vehicle stop.
The stolen vehicle fled from the officer at a high rate of speed east on Malone into Miner’s city limit.
A high-speed chase was started and the vehicle pursuit traveled through Miner’s city limits and turned south on Interstate 55 continuing to evade law enforcement at a high rate of speed.
Missouri State Highway Patrol was able to assist in the pursuit by deploying spike strips to disable the vehicle.
The vehicle pursuit ended on Interstate 55 near the 56-mile marker.
Two people were taken into custody.
