Two registered sex offenders arrested in Herrin, Illinois, for non-compliance

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill., (KBSI) — Two registered sex offenders, Michael S. Buen and Andrew J. Quintana, were arrested in Herrin, Illinois, on Feb. 12, 2025, for non-compliance with residency restrictions.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, both men were found to be living within 500 feet of a school, violating Illinois law 720 ILCS 5/11-9.3, a class 4 felony.

Quintana was taken into custody at 1:19 p.m. in the 900 block of South 12th Street, while Buen was arrested at 5:30 p.m. in the 500 block of West Monroe Street.

Both men were transported to the Williamson County Jail. Sheriff Jeff Diederich emphasized that sex offenders are aware of their obligations and that his office has a zero-tolerance policy for non-compliance.
