Two special friends make it to Boston Marathon

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Two buddies are on their way to one of the world’s most prestigious road races. 

Doug and Willie are partners through My Team Triumph. An organization that pairs what they call ‘angels with captains’ angels are everyday people who volunteer to participate in physical activities with captains which are adults with special abilities and give them the opportunity to do things like compete in marathons.

Doug and Willie have been partners for several years and have worked really hard to earn a spot at the Boston marathon!

Debbie Leoni is with my team triumph of Missouri and talks about their journey.  

“They developed a friendship and Doug is a challenge guy and an endurance guy and always pushing the limits which is exciting and so he brought up to willie “You want to do the Boston Marathon?” Which he of Course like 100% yes Willies up for any challenge as well. So, they started training together and running together and we’ve had some great local folks who volunteered and run with them.”
