U.S. 61 in Jackson reopens after completion of construction project

JACKSON, Mo., (KBSI) — Road closure signs on U.S. 61 in Jackson have been removed, marking the completion of a construction project that added turn lanes, improved pavement and replaced a bridge.
The project, which began on a section of the roadway from Parkview Street to North Hope Street, included:
— Adding turn lanes at Mary Street and the Jackson City Park entrance
— Pavement improvements
— Replacing the bridge over Hubble Creek at Jackson City Park
— Utility upgrades
Although additional work was added to the contract during the project, the Missouri Department of Transportation says it will benefit travelers for decades to come.
MoDOT thanked local residents and drivers for their patience during the project.
