SIKESTON, Mo. (KBSI) – Starting today, the U.S. Department of Defense, in partnership with DAEOC (Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corporation), kicked off their program offering no-cost health and medical services.

Operation Healthy Delta Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) is a collaborative effort between DAEOC and the U.S. Department of Defense these free services will be available in Southern Illinois and Southeast Missouri.

According to Reagan Collins, a strategic communications specialist at DAEOC, the IRT services ensure that anyone can receive quality care without barriers such as being uninsured and underinsured.

“With this, anyone is able to come and get quality care and not have to provide any of that type of documentation,” said Collins.

The IRT program offers basic medical exams, dental exams, optical exams, and general health services, aiming to address the healthcare needs of rural areas.

Major John Quin, public affairs officer for Operation Healthy Delta, says that this program provides an opportunity for the military personnel involved to get training while giving back to their local communities.

“To be in a position where we can give back to our friends and neighbors and our local communities is really exceptional. This is an outstanding program,” said Quin.
