Union City Middle School student in custody after weapon brought to school

UNION CITY, Tenn. (KBSI) – A Union City Middle School student was taken into custody just before classes were dismissed Monday after school officials say the student had a weapon on school property.
School officials received a tip from a neighboring law enforcement agency, and an arrest was made by School Resource Officer personnel, according to a news release from Union City Schools.
The 8th grader was taken to the Union City Police Department.
Union City Schools has a zero-tolerance policy for such offenses.
Administrators stressed that there was no active threat.
