Union City students’ art project pays tribute to 9/11 first responders

UNION CITY, Tenn. (KBSI) – Union City High School art students made posters for those who will climb 13 flights of stairs 10 times in full gear tributing those who lost their lives in the New York City terror attack on September 11, 2001.

Hilary Webb’s students will have the stairwells lined with artwork at Disco to provide inspiration to participants. This tradition allows Webb to combine a history lesson with an art project for her students.

Students are asked to research images, phrases, and logos related to the event. Next, they create preliminary sketches before making their finished project.

According to Webb, the inspiration behind this project is art that was created post 9/11. She uses art and history in all of her classes.
