United Way of Southeast Missouri kicks off campaign with annual luncheon
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – United Way of Southeast Missouri is hosting its annual Kickoff Luncheon in Cape Girardeau on Thursday.
The luncheon begins United Way’s 2023-2024 campaign, United in Purpose.
Executive Director Elizabeth Shelton spoke on how they are working to help create a better future for those in need within the community.
“It has to do with needing families, and now $5 million will be managed by United Ways of Missouri to make sure, that that money gets to needing families,” said Shelton.
Director for First Call for Help Denise Wimp says their goal is to help make sure families have the support they need to thrive.
“What will happen it will provide some assistance to those in need that need transportation to work, those who are looking for transportation to get to work, maybe child care, rent assistance and by helping those folks we also help the community as a whole, because they go into the community, and they work and they shop and they live, and that helps the community as a whole,” said Wimp.
